sestavljamo hendikepirani posamezniki in posameznice, ki verjamejo in
delujejo po filozofiji neodvisnega življenja. Združeni smo v svoji
različnosti, da bi lažje dosegali cilje. Ne nasedamo retoriki zdravega
načina življenja, logiki varstva in skrbi, izogibamo se pokroviteljskim
praksam dobrodelnosti ter usmiljenja. Predvsem pa ne dovolimo več, da
bi si kdo vzel pravico ali se čutil poklicanega, da govori za nas,
namesto nas in v našem imenu.
Hendikep razumemo kot socialni
status, ki se ga pripiše vsakomur, ki v nekem trenutku ali v določeni
družbi, izpade iz obstoječih definicij in sprejetih norm. Hendikepiran
posameznik se tako znajde v določenih družbenih razmerjih, ki ga
potiskajo in držijo v depriviligiranem položaju. Zato ga mora in more
preseči.
The members of the association are handicapped people who believe
in and act by the principles of the independent living. We are united
in our diversity, in order to achieve our goals eaiser. We do not fall
for the "healthy life" rhetoric and custody and care logic. We avoid
patronizing practices of charity and pity, and most of all, we don't
allow for somebody to assume the right or feel entitled to speak on our
behalf, instead of us and our name.
We understand handicap as a social status, assigned to anyone, who
in a certain moment or in a certain society falls out olf existing
definitions and accepted norms. A handicapped person can find him or
herself in social relations, which push him or her into and keep him or
her in a deprivileged position. Therefore, one must surpass such
relations. |
